This remix is not bad, as the new melodies you brought in are fine. But everything lacks power that can be gained with better mixing and more practice. Also the dubstep drop was short lol

The build up needed more suspense :/ and the drums did not give the track the 'punch' it needed.

I actually loved the sound at 1:38... but everything else lacked impact. I recommend you try to use serum, or other synths because you may find that you prefer others more. All of the knowledge you need really comes in with experience.

The atmospheric feeling in the intro was effective, I will give you that. What stands out the most is that you lack the extra percussion in your tracks like hats and other percussion that you could add to make it vary a lot more.

Sound design is what you need to work on, when you have the time on the engineering side of things.

Tennon responds:

yeah, percussion is my weak point

The sounds in the second drop should be tighter for glitch hop but other than that, it's alright.

DJ-Zyzyx responds:

Okay thanks :3

One of my favourite Mario games from my childhood and this was a good track; This remix made the expectations but kind of ended randomly.

1999Elias responds:

Thanks, and yeah I though about making it longer but that could make the music a little repetitive and add a fade out effect but later dropped the idea, dunno why.

The mixing could be much better; for example, the sweeps are kind of too loud... also you use way too many of them. The ending just sounds like it was cut off too.

The actual melodies and stuff are decent; just don't spend too much time on individual tracks...

Make more projects rather than "perfecting" one because that is the only way you get experience. I usually write more; however, lately the profiles I happen to review on don't actually see the review.

Good luck and keep it up :)

MavMusic responds:

Thanks for the advice! Ill make a new song instead of perfecting this one and i should've lowered the volume of the sweeps and i didn't know how to end it off because this was my first song so i was kind of experimenting on it but anyways thanks for the advice, it means alot to me.

Lot's of riddim being made these days. I am terrified that it will all become the more chill riddim that lacks the power that makes it so great. I remember a relatively popular riddim song like this on Sound Cloud that pissed me off because it lacked powerful sound design.

This is definitely not too bad :)

The problem is that I know nothing about riddim yet, so I cannot really make this review much better

It would be better if there was no kicks at the beginning. It would develop better if you had the kicks later on. You should refer to some really good house tracks so you can follow a basic format.

This song gets a little weird around 2:30. Be careful with how you develop a song.

The melody kind of reminds me of my first house song which was not great either lol.

This EP was not too bad so keep making stuff :D

Intro is weird but it develops into something decent.

Around 2:45 there is a lot of discord which is not great.

This is hard to review because at least with the first one of your's I reviewed there was something I could grasp.

Idk man.. I wish I could give more for this one.

This one is kind of strange but likeable in some sense. Not bad at all; the chiptune stuff is good but is just not my style lol

Pulvite responds:

This song was intended to be a chiptune song back in late January, but recently I thought that some wubs would fit the song. I really like how this turned out and I'm glad you (somewhat) like it :)

Piano could use more chords and there is not much tension in the intro. It just feels flat with the piano and kick. It could use more percussion and backing instruments. Maybe even an extra sub bass.

A filter could have been used on the first several growls. The other problem is that the drop itself is less powerful than the growl in the build up.. There is not enough impact.

This is definitely not bad; however, it could have developed much better into the drop and the build up kicks just seems too basic and uninspired in my opinion.

Keep it up :D

Glad to hear you have not killed anyone.

I hate how clueless some of the reviews on NG are:

"I rarely ever heard something that made me say it was crap, but this is definitely one of them" (this guy has not been on NG before clearly)

"NG should put Highscore on the audio portal" (This has to be a joke)

[I want to talk about the guy that doesn't know what side chain is but that is not his fault]

"I hate how clueless some of the reviews on NG are"... Oh wait that last one is me.

This is definitely your best attempt at a rem(ake)/(ix). You made me aware of the fact that you needed to avoid the glitch-hop sounds because you still need to learn (so do a lot of people).

Of course it is not exactly like the original; however, only the original can be the original. And it sounded exactly the same this track would probably be taken off NG for copyright or something lol

I like how you made some of the melodies different (whether it was on purpose or not) because it made me feel more open to what this had to offer.

TBH you should have added the second part with the pitch change because by the end it got a little repetitive because you could not make the glitch sounds.

Inf3ctionGD was right about the piano actually. Try to make the velocities of the notes less or vary them.

Since Highscore was entirely the drop besides the short intro, you could see how Panda Eyes and Teminite made the song maintain tension throughout the track. A lot was missing without the pitch change drop and the glitch sounds; however, you have a lot of time as a producer to learn all about tension, sound design and overall composition.

Good luck dude.
